How to reduce vibration when countersinking? What methods?

Reducing vibration when countersinking - effects: chatter marks, fast wear, chipping, machine damage, noise. Methods: 1) Short overhang - long overhang is the main cause; keep under 3x shank diameter; rigidity drops 7-8x for every doubling of overhang; 2) Thicker shank - use the thickest shank allowed; a 12mm shank is far more rigid than 6mm for the same head; 3) Secure clamping - ER collets, not drill chucks (precision, low runout, rigid); lock the nut, insert the shank deep; 4) Lower speed - high speeds cause resonance; try lower speeds to find the stable range; 5) Smaller feed - large feeds create force and vibration; reduce feed; 6) More rigidity - a) machine - old/small machines are weak; lower parameters or use a rigid machine; b) workpiece - thin walls and cantilevers vibrate; add support and auxiliary clamping; c) fixture - rigid fixtures; do not clamp long workpieces in a vise; 7) Sharp tool - dull tools cut with force and vibrate; re-sharpen or replace; 8) Edge form - single-flute cuts with less force and vibration - good for thin walls and small machines; multi-flute cuts smoothly but with more force - for rigid machines; 9) Damping holders - damping (anti-vibration) tool holders greatly reduce vibration if available; 10) Parameter optimization - trial-cut to find the optimum for your material and machine; do not copy values blindly. Troubleshooting order: 1) check clamping; 2) check overhang; 3) lower speed; 4) reduce feed; 5) change tool (thicker, shorter); 6) check machine (rigidity or spindle).
