What hardness are countersinks? Is harder always better?
Standard HSS: HRC62-64; cobalt HSS (M42): HRC66-68; carbide: HRA90-94 (about HRC75+). Harder is not always better - higher hardness means more brittleness and chipping. Choose the right hardness-toughness balance for the workpiece. Lihao Technology cobalt HSS offers the best balance.
