The gap between domestic and imported countersinks keeps narrowing, and domestic products can replace imports in most cases. Current state: 1) Material - domestic cobalt HSS now matches imported grades in cobalt content, hardness and red hardness; some premium products use imported raw material; 2) Precision - domestic precision CNC tool grinders are widespread; grinding accuracy reaches +/-0.01mm, on par with imports; 3) Coating - domestic PVD coating equipment and technology are mature; TiAlN, AlCrN and other coatings perform close to imported; 4) Tool life - on ordinary materials (carbon steel, aluminum) domestic life is equal to or better than imported; on hard-to-machine materials (stainless steel, superalloys) premium domestic tools reach 80%-90% of imported life; 5) Consistency - leading domestic brands are highly consistent, though small factories lag; 6) Price - domestic tools cost 1/3 to 1/2 of imported - excellent value. Remaining gaps: 1) premium carbide materials - ultra-fine grain and ultra-hard grades still depend on imports; 2) high-end coating equipment and processes - special coatings (DLC, CBN) still lag; 3) brand premium - imported brands carry recognition and trust; 4) extreme applications - some customers still prefer imports for aerospace, medical and other ultra-demanding fields. Bottom line: for ordinary machining, automotive, mold, 3C electronics and more, domestic countersinks fully replace imports at better value; for extreme high-end applications, testing first usually confirms they can replace imports too.
