Countersink welds on stainless steel - how to fix?

Welding (built-up edge) on stainless is common. Solutions: 1) Lower speed - stainless needs low speed, typically 400-800rpm; too fast causes welding; 2) Increase feed - heavier chip thickness resists welding, typically 0.05-0.1mm/rev; 3) Cutting fluid - emulsion or dedicated stainless fluid with full cooling and lubrication; 4) Coated tools - TiAlN resists heat and wear with good anti-welding; 5) Cobalt HSS - HSS-E has better red hardness and welds less than standard HSS; 6) Keep edges sharp - dull tools weld more; regrind promptly. These adjustments solve most welding problems.
