Which countersinks for precision chamfering in 3C electronics? What requirements?
For 3C electronics (phones, computers, tablets, wearables) we recommend solid carbide countersinks or small-diameter cobalt HSS countersinks: 1) Small parts - chamfer diameters are usually 1-6mm, needing small-diameter tools; 2) High precision - mating tolerances are typically +/-0.02mm with mirror-finish surface demands; 3) Diverse materials - aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, ceramics, glass; 4) High volume - mass production needs long life and consistency. Requirements: 1) Small diameter - 1-6mm with 3mm or 4mm shanks and high-precision collets; 2) High speed - small tools need 10,000-30,000rpm and a high-speed spindle; 3) Small feed - 0.01-0.05mm/rev for surface quality; 4) Mirror finish - take a final no-feed pass, or use ultra-fine-grain carbide; 5) Coating - DLC (diamond-like carbon) for aluminum to prevent welding; TiAlN for stainless steel; 6) Chip resistance - small-diameter tools are brittle; use small feeds, avoid impact. 3C demands high precision and life - choose quality small-diameter precision tools from reputable makers.
