Larger diameters (12mm+) keep enough diameter after regrinding; 3. Good tool material (cobalt HSS, carbide) where regrind cost is below a new tool; 4. Professional regrinding equipment and skill available. Not worth it: 1. Small tools (8mm and under) - regrinding is uneconomical; 2. Tools already chipped or cracked - strength is lost after regrinding; 3. Coated tools - the coating is ground off and recoating is expensive; 4. Already reground many times - diameter is too small.
