Shelf life of countersinks: Stored properly (dry, rust-protected, individually packaged), countersinks can last 5-10 years or longer in theory - material properties do not degrade. Unopened new tools in original packaging: 5-10 years; opened but unused, oiled: 3-5 years; used tools, cleaned and oiled: 1-3 years. Coatings stay basically stable in long-term storage. Storage notes: dry and ventilated (humidity under 60%), rust-preventive oil, individual packaging (box or rust-preventive paper), avoid high temperature and direct sunlight, avoid acid/alkali corrosion, check every 1-3 months, desiccant during the south plum-rain season. Rust treatment: light rust - rust-preventive oil + soft cloth; medium rust - soak in kerosene, clean with a brass brush, re-sharpen rusted edges; severe rust - scrap.
