Countersink drill and countersink - the same? What tool for countersunk holes?
Basically the same tool under different names. Countersink drill emphasizes the purpose - machining countersunk holes so screw heads sit below the surface; countersink emphasizes the function - edge chamfering and deburring. In practice it is the same tool. For countersunk holes, cobalt HSS (HSS-E) countersinks or spot drills are recommended - great red hardness, wear resistance and life. Angle by screw standard: 90 degrees for national standard screws, 82 for US, 100 for British, 120 common in automotive. For batches, use piloted spot drills - the pilot locates in the pilot hole, no slipping, consistent countersink depth.
