What to check before using a new countersink? How to accept delivery?

Pre-use checks and acceptance of new countersinks: 1) Visual - check edges for chipping, cracks, rust; surface for scratches and knocks; 2) Dimensions - measure head diameter, shank diameter and overall length with calipers/micrometer; confirm they match the order; 3) Angle - measure with an angle gauge; should be within +/-0.5 degrees; 4) Hardness - spot-test with a hardness tester if available: cobalt HSS HRC65-67, standard HSS HRC62-64; 5) Runout - mount and check radial runout with a dial indicator, normally under 0.02mm; 6) Markings - check material (HSS-E, HSS) and spec markings on shank or package; 7) Quantity - confirm it matches the order. Acceptance method: 1) Trial cut - test one part on scrap before production; check chamfer size, angle and finish; 2) Comparison - compare life and finish against the previous tool; 3) Record - log usage (material, parameters, life, problems) per batch for comparison and traceability. If problems: 1) Visual or size failure - do not use, contact us to exchange; 2) Poor trial cut - contact our engineers to analyze and adjust parameters or model; 3) Short life - contact us; material or coating may not match - we can recommend a better model. Our products pass strict factory inspection (99%+ pass rate), but checking before use is still wise to avoid batch scrap.
