Can countersinks machine internal chamfers? Which tool for internal chamfers?

Yes, countersinks can machine internal chamfers - choose the tool by hole size and depth. Tool selection: 1) Large holes (10mm+) - standard countersinks or internal chamfer tools if the bar reaches; 2) Small holes (3-10mm) - small-diameter internal chamfer tools with thin bars; 3) Deep holes - extended-shank internal chamfer tools; 4) Back chamfers (back side of the hole) - back chamfer tools or deburring tools; standard countersinks cannot reach. Internal chamfer notes: 1) Bar rigidity - thin bars are less rigid and vibrate; use 30%-50% lower speed and feed than external chamfering; 2) Chip removal - difficult inside holes; flood cutting fluid or use interrupted feed (in-out-in) to help evacuation; 3) Avoid collisions - thin bars bend; watch the hole wall during rapid moves; 4) Tool setting - set X to the hole wall, Z to the hole mouth carefully; 5) Measuring - internal chamfers are hard to measure; use dedicated chamfer gauges or a projector. Methods: 1) Front chamfer - the tool enters from the front of the hole; most common; 2) Back chamfer - pass the tool through to the back side; use a back chamfer tool; 3) Cross-hole chamfer - chamfer edges of intersecting holes with special deburring or ball-nose tools.
